Jumping ship to Maya

Dailies: Taking an hour each day to prototype and learn new techniques.

After years of working within Cinema 4D, it’s time to start adopting myself to the industry standard. For a few reasons: It seems to work better with Unity & Unreal. Better character animations and much more learning resources.

To begin I’m going to start with the fundamentals and model, texture, animate, dynamics, lighting and rendering of a simple aircraft. Focus being on learning Maya fundamentals.

Tutorial from Pluralsight

Digging into the detailed Arnold light settings in Maya for 1hr today.

Daily 18.09.27 /// 136 // lighting / #maya #3d #gamedev #pluralsight

Fun 1hr daily learning about volumetric shading but would definitely need a lot more time to tweak and experiment with the volume depth.
Render time with volumes is a nightmare.

Exploring animating an emitter and getting the fade/growth just right. Next daily I’ll fix the shader
